About Scott Degraffenreid, Social Network Architect

Everyone deserves a winnable game worth playing!

Claiming to be the world's greatest anything is usually a bit risky. There's almost always someone to argue that title or question your claim. In Scott Degraffenreid's case, he has a proverbial lock on the crown. That's because, for the moment, he is the world's only Social Network Architect, a term he, himself coined last year. Scott realized that much of his work had transitioned from analyzing to design and that he was now actually capable of creating new social networks where none had previously existed.

Scott was formerly a Social Network Analyst, which is a very obscure field of mathematics concerned with identifying predictable patterns in a wide range of social activities, both human and non-human. Degraffenreid is one of a very few people in his field using Social Network Analysis to develop leading-edge business applications. Scott admits to a preference for “jobs so obscure almost no one can tell if you're doing them right or not.”

Scott Degraffenreid has fifteen years experience as a Forensic Accountant preceding his transition to Behavioral Statistics and Social Network Analysis. He was a highly sought after Forensic Accountant, “before Enron made it cool.” Forensic Accounting, for Scott, was essentially about using logic to unravel puzzles of embezzlement and fraud. His current career is just a further extension of his long-standing fascination with story-problems. A lot of people enjoy story problems in school but you only get paid to do them if they resolve critical client issues. He has participated in projects for over one hundred organizations with accountabilities ranging from survey research, database analysis and field studies to research design and statistical modeling of group behaviors. Scott's ability to assimilate and grasp intricate organizational issues as they relate to corporate and market dynamics allows him to bring a unique mathematical perspective to complex environments.

With a title like “Embracing the N.U.D.E. Model, The New Art and Science of Referral Marketing,” [available online on Mr. Degraffenreid's website at www.NecessaryMeasures.com ], you could assume that Degraffenreid doesn't take himself too seriously and you would be right. He has been described by Bernie Dohrmann as the Gallagher of business speakers. A “veg-o-mathematic” splattering statistical melons with aplomb and drenching his audience and readers in dry wit.

Scott Degraffenreid is a featured faculty member IBI Forums. He will be on hand for Forum 1206.
