About Howard Lim
How Studios
Howard Lim, founder of HOW Studios, Inc. has always been passionate about being creative since he was a child. At the age of 5, his first experience of finger painting, was the start of it all. He felt a connection to a deeper source.
Besides his natural ability, he had many mentors that contributed to his successful career. In college he was under the wings of world renowned brand and design leaders, such as, Greg Hutchensen, who created the famous Christian Dior brand ID, Robert Densham, who created the brand ID for Midstate Bank, and Howard's brother, Dennis Lim, who created the Think Different campaign for Apple and who also brought Honda and Saturn to market.
After 8 years of intense college studies in multiple disciplines, and earning a BS in Applied Art and Design from Cal Poly, and graduate studies in advertising and computer graphics from Art Center of Design in Pasadena; Howard was soon sought out by Fortune 500 companies for his unique gifts.
His unique gifts of combining technical, creative, and innovative skills, gave birth to his company, HOW Studios, Inc. in 1987.
Howard gives his clients an innovative edge to set their brand apart from others. He pioneered a solution for ABC networks, by creating one of the first computerized off-line motion graphics for Saturday mornings. In the early 90's, he gave presences to Zylan by launching one the first graphically integrated effective award-winning websites. He created the first all digital ad for Fujitsu for MAC World and MAC User national magazines, and the first Wall Street Journal for Claris, FileMaker. His studio created the first brand campaign for Philips Interactive Media movies on a 5 inch disc – we now know that as a DVD movie. Over the 15 years of business, he has influenced his client's brand position, and their sales, by well over a billion dollars.
The clients he is most passionate about are emerging companies or companies that need to be rebranded for greater market share. Howard says, “working with a blank canvas and the ability to move them at an amplified speed is exciting to him.” Howard is a frequent instructor at CEO Space.
